From his days as a university student studying forest ecology and other earth and social sciences, our founder, Terry Smith, has maintained an integrated perspective of managing resources and the environment, believing that each component or value, including social and economic, is interdependent and inseparably linked to the others. This perspective is reflected in our corporate structure.
Silvatech Consulting Ltd was established in 1983 to provide forest land management services in British Columbia, Canada. Since then Silvatech has added mapping, land base inventory, environmental and land use planning and aboriginal consultation support teams in its evolution to the Silvatech Group. We also have strategic alliances with other environmental, social and economic experts. Service centers include Salmon Arm and Smithers British Columbia, Calgary and Edmonton, Alberta as well as Thunder Bay, Ontario. The Silvatech Group is composed of our parent company, Silvatech Consulting Ltd. and its subsidiaries Silvatech Consulting Ontario Ltd., Earth Imaging Technologies Inc. and Niché Environmental Ltd., as well as a diverse group of strategic partners.
Today, Silvatech is a nationally recognized land base information group providing complimentary services in natural resource and land base inventories, environmental planning, aboriginal consultation support, forest and environmental management services and mapping. We believe that in order to responsibly manage the environment and its resources, reliable and current information is essential. As such we have developed expertise with state-of-the-art photogrammetry, remote sensing, GIS, digital mapping and modeling technology to convert new and existing data into powerful landscape level decision making tools (land base and natural resource inventories, thematic maps, databases, spatial foot print models, strategic cumulative effects models and land use frameworks). This time and accuracy critical intelligence is used to drive policy and provide a basis for regional and sub-regional social and economic development, balanced with environmental sustainability.

Silvatech was recently awarded a contract as lead vendor in modeling the cumulative effects of social, economic and environmental impacts resulting from rapid growth and expansion in the South Saskatchewan Region of Alberta.
