Forest Technologists
Silvatech Consulting Ltd., established in 1983, is a progressive developer of technological solutions for resource management. The Silvatech Group provides professional services in forest management planning and development, environmental sciences, resource inventories & mapping. Silvatech is accepting resumes for the positions of Senior, Intermediate and Junior Forest Technologists. The positions require experienced resource technologists to carry out reconnaissance and development of timber harvest areas and access roads, GPS surveys, site plans and stream assessments, waste and residue assessments and forest inventories. Silvatech is a family friendly company. The positions are full-time, based at Salmon Arm, Kamloops, Prince George, Williams Lake and other locations in BC.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Forest Technologist Diploma or equivalent
- RFT certification or eligible
- Timber development experience in BC
- Waste assessment experience in BC
- Efficient and safety conscious with field operations and equipment
- Good written and interpersonal communication skills in English
- Good people / leadership skills
- Ability to work as a team member and independently
- Good computer skills
- Valid BC drivers license
- Level 1 First Aid, S-100, ATV safety and Bear Awareness training

Forest Inventory Interpreter
Silvatech Consulting Ltd. was established in 1983 as a progressive developer of technological solutions for resource management applications. The Silvatech Group utilizes some of the most current technology available in resource information acquisition and management. Silvatech is accepting resumes for the position(s) of Forest Inventory Interpreter. These position(s) require air-photo interpreters to work in our Resource Inventory Department in carrying out vegetation and base feature inventories. Some travel will be required. The position(s) will be full-time, based out of Salmon Arm, B.C. near beautiful Shuswap Lake. It is ideal for those who prefer a small-town atmosphere, near to larger centres, with full services and amenities and year-round recreational opportunities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Forestry or allied science Diploma or Degree
- 2 + years of experience in forest resource inventories
- Demonstrated field and office inventory project experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- Sr. Air-Photo Interpreter – Certified. (BC and/or AB and/or ON)
- Demonstrated experience with stereo soft-copy software
- Good computer, GIS, digital mapping skills
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Air photo interpretation (Vegetation / Base Features)
- Field Sampling / Data Collection
- Delineation, Classification / Attribute Estimation
- Operation of Stereo Digital Mapping Workstation

Forest Waste and Residue Manager
Silvatech Consulting Ltd. was established in 1983 as a progressive developer of technological solutions for forest resource management. The successful applicant will be working with a senior manager learning the role and responsibilities. Applying advanced planning tools and technology along with an experienced team of GIS specialists will be required. Silvatech is accepting resumes for the position of Waste and Residue Manager. This is a full-time position based out of Salmon Arm, B.C. with opportunities for senior corporate advancement.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science or Technical Diploma in Forestry
- Registered Professional Forester or Registered Forest Technologist in BC
- Experience in Waste and Residue Surveys, Cruising, Scaling in BC
- Strong supervisory/management skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- Strong leadership and organizational skills
- Good computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Familiarity with ESRI GIS software
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operational planning and coordination of a large waste and residue program across multiple locations of BC
- Client liaison, meetings, coordination
- Work closely under a very experienced trainer while learning this position
- Training and Q/A of junior staff and new crew member's work
- Review and submissions of waste and residue documents to MOF on behalf of clients
- Business development

Forest Resource Inventory Manager
Forest Resource Inventory Manager
Location: Salmon Arm, B.C. situated on Shuswap Lake in the Southern Interior of British Columbia. This is an ideal location for those who prefer a small town atmosphere, close to larger centres, with abundant recreational opportunities.
The responsibilities of the Resource Inventory Forester / Manager will be to lead in the application of innovative resource inventory methods for forest vegetation, ecosystems, habitat, terrain, water resources, visual sensitivity and other non-timber values. The Inventory Forester will assist in developing, designing, budgeting and implementing resource inventory projects. He/she will serve as a team specialist on multi-disciplinary projects along with other resource professionals and mapping specialists; train and lead inventory staff, and assist with corporate business development. The Inventory Forester will work with clients to solve operational issues and assist clients in resource negotiations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters Degree in forest metrics or allied science with 5+ years of forest resource inventory experience, or
- Bachelors Degree in forestry with 10+ years of resource inventory experience
- Registered Professional Forester (or eligible for registration) in B.C.
- Experienced in the use of remote sensing technology for forest inventories
- Experience in project management and leadership
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Certification for Vegetation Inventories in BC, AB or Ont.
